Usually parents try and ban books to help protect their kids from anything that they think inappropriate. Parents try to ban certain books for either explicit content, offensive language, or if they think the book is not suited for their childs age. (American Library Association) When people challenge and ban books, they have to file a complaint to their local library, then a someone who works with banning books will discuss it on a committee and read it to decide. If the person trying to ban the book is still not happy, they can take it to court and go all the way up to supreme court until the supreme court decides the final decision. If it's taken to Supreme Court, no one else can try to challenge it again. (D.H Lawrence)
